Several Asian countries have tightened their border health security measures for arrivals from India over an outbreak of Nipah virus.

Health Minister Mark Butler says the government is monitoring the outbreak of the highly deadly Nipah virus “very closely” after two cases were detected in the Indian state of West Bengal.

There were no reported cases of the virus outside India, but several Asian countries introduced or reinforced screening measures at airports as a precaution.
