Ever wondered what happened to Tamworth's Vampire Jet? Well it's down but not out. For 41 years the De Havilland Vampire jet stood on a plinth in Hands of Fame Park. You might recall it there on the left hand side as you cross the Peel River bridge heading into the CBD?. It is understood to be one of 80 aircraft ordered by the RAAF in 1946, built at the De Havilland plant at Bankstown, but saw no active service.
