To earn their keep these historical windjammers have served many purposes over the years. Schooner Ladona was built as a racing yacht in the 20s but was called into service during WWII. She then was used as a fishing vessel and then educational sail training boat (under the name Nathanial Bowditch). She was then restored as a Windjammer and later was extensively rebuilt in 2015. Sailing aboard her now is an amazing way to experience the coast of Maine and connect with living history. #thisiswind
